Mid Rivers Christian Church began as First Christian Church of St. Peters.  The first service was held on November 7, 1965 in the home of Allen Draper.  Mr. Draper was the first minister of the church, serving on a part-time basis from 1966-1968.

Less than two years later, on August 22, 1966, 3.22 acres were purchased just down the road at 6930 Mexico Rd.  The property, previously a hog lot, was purchased for $8,372.  The church building was immediately started at a cost of $18,000 and appraised at $45,000.  The first service was held Easter Sunday, March 26, 1967.  The first revival was April, 1968 when a new sanctuary, foyer, and nursery were dedicated to the building.

After several decades of steady growth, First Christian Church of St. Peters reached out in faith to better reach the community.  In 1991 the congregation embarked on an "Adventure in Faith."  With property that was essentially "landlocked" and a vision towards growth, the leadership began a search for new land on which to build.  On May 15, 1992 the church purchased the property where our current church building now stands on Mid Rivers Mall Drive.  The former church building on Mexico Road was sold and worship services were moved temporarily to Lutheran High School while the new building was being constructed.

On December 1, 1994, First Christian Church of St. Peters officially changed its name to Mid Rivers Christian Church.  The official ground breaking for our present building occurred on May 15, 1994, exactly two years after purchase of the church property.  The new church facility was dedicated on July 9, 1995.

Our present building has been a tremendous location from which to reach out to St. Peters and beyond.  A new addition was added in 2003 to enlarge and enhance the worship auditorium and add extra classrooms.  A lower level was also added with to provide extra youth classrooms and a new youth worship space.   

God has been faithful each step of the way to preserve and guide our church community.  We look forward to seeing how God will continue to grow our church as we follow His lead into the future.
