A Servant's Heart
God's people are saved because of the work of Jesus Christ on the cross. We are not saved by our own works, but we have been saved in order to do good works. The Bible says, "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" (Eph. 2:10).
God has a plan for you. At Mid Rivers we believe God's plan for your life of service is intricately connected to who you are. You are God's workmanship. Take a moment to prayerfully consider the following questions to further determine how God has shaped you for service:
What am I passionate about? What is on your heart may reveal where God wants you to serve.
What can I do? Your talents, gifts, skills and abilities may reveal what God wants you to do in service.
What is my personality? Your personal style or temperament could reveal how you are to serve.
What has been my journey? Your life experiences, good and bad, can further define the where, what and how of your service.
When a person serves in respect to how they've been created, enjoyment often results. However, as you pursue serving, also consider the needs that surround you.
Sometimes God calls us to an endeavor that, although it may not be enjoyable, it will address a great need. At these moments, we must have a servant's heart like Jesus when he went to the cross.
